Heat Exhaustion

Well thanks to WebMD I diagnosed myself with heat exhaustion. Shannon has suffered from it too so he was my 2nd opinion. Sure glad I didn't have to go to a real doctor... Here's what happened: I played 2 hours of tennis yesterday morning and half way through the match I started feeling really sluggish. I was drinking water by the gallon and couldn't seem to cool down. By the end I thought I might drop on the court if I didn't get to my car as soon as possible. My car thermometer read 91 degrees at 11am. No wonder I was hot! You can add about 20 degrees to that and that's usually the temp on a tennis court. As I drove home, nausea set in. I figured I was just hot and hungry so I drove through Taco Villa (my fave :) for some lunch and an ice cold drink. When I got home, I showered and sat down to rest and get back my energy. No luck. I started feeling worse. I was shivering and sweating at the same time. I thought this is great, I've somehow contracted a plagu

I'm not tough enough...

What have I done? I went to the dentist yesterday and had a full set of brace put on. (I say this like I just got my nails done...) Anyway, a full set means both top and bottom teeth.  This is my 2nd go around with braces. The first being when I was 11. Now at 39, I'm wearing them again. Thank you wisdom teeth for moving my orthodontically straightened teeth. I do not remember my mouth hurting this bad when I was 11. I am miserable! Pain is no stranger to me, UC is very painful but now, I'm thinking these braces are going to do me in. I've been eating regular foods to try to help work out the soreness but to my dismay, the chewing has made mince meat out of my cheeks and--  BONUS -- I have ulcer sores all over my mouth. I went and picked up wax from my dentist to cover the braces and I'm taking Advil/Tylenol around the clock. I feel like the biggest sissy! So tonight, I'm sipping wine and sulking. I think it's called self-medicating. I really don't car

Crazy Busy

Crazy. Busy. Crazy. This sums up the last week for me. We are in the middle of moving and I barely have the energy or time to pick my nose let alone blog. Though I enjoy the cleaning out process and excitement of building a new home, I am ready to slow down and find some normalcy again. To add to the mayhem, Thomas has 2 a days for football as well as scrimmages during the week. So it seems the only time I sit down is in the car driving him around. And because I am so nutso, I forgot to write the date down for a garage sale I'm having with some friends. I thought it was next weekend but it's not--it's this weekend! We are going to try to postpone it to 2 weeks from now. There is no way I can move and do a garage sale this weekend! Good grief! This is not how I pictured a nice, lazy summer... Hopefully, some of the manic will calm down once we move at the end of this week. What I am pleasantly surprised about is how well my health, energy and stamina are holding up
