2nd update per shannon

Dear Friends and Family,

Thank you all for the thoughts and prayers.

Just wanted to update you all on Monnie's latest.

We are still in hospital and we did meet with Monnie's doc who we think a lot of yesterday. We discussed the options of removing the colon or trying to see if the medicine might work in the case that this might be a fluke deal at best case or if the medicine has lost its effectiveness. and removal of colon is necessary.

After discussing our options Monnie said she's ready to take the colon out.  We then met with the surgeon he was here within an hour of the doc calling.
He seemed like a really good guy and talked with us for a quite a while. Explained the surgery and recovery. Monnie was really kinda gung ho to get on with it.

However her doctor came early this morning and wants to give the medicine one more shot. We are waiting to get the treament. WE will just see what happens.

No idea of when or if she'll feel better and avoid surgery or not.

Thank you for all of your prayers and thoughts.

Please continue praying and hopefully one way or the other Monnie will get better soon.

For the last 2 days I have done only what was necessary. I got up took kids to school, went back to bed, got up picked up kids, went back to bed, got up made dinner went back to bed. I bet I slept approximately 26-27 hours between Tuesday and Wednesday. This is so frustrating! Tuesday was a pain filled day and yesterday I was just exhausted from the stinking pain of Tuesday. There's an oil for that...

You know in the Bible where it talks about anointing with oil for healing of physical ailments? To be specific: Mark 6:13 and James 5:14 are just a couple of them. Anyway...turns out, it's true. I know, imagine that. I have a good friend who has been singing the praises of essential oils for about a year now and all the amazing things she and her family have experienced because of them. ** Here's where I'm going to reveal my prideful, know-it-all, ugly self. A New Book & Then Some...

Started a new book today,  Arresting Grace  by Michael Joel Green. I'm only one chapter in but I'm hooked. Here's a link to his website: Arresting Grace     I actually downloaded the e-book (kindle version) for free and am very glad I did. Totally hooked on this guy's willingness to be completely transparent with who he was at the time of his DUI arrest. I can't wait to read more. His writing style reminds me of  Blue Like Jazz  by Donald Miller.  He conveys a humble approach to his belief in God and his human-ness to screw up and I find it very easy, not only to read but also, to relate to. It's like he's sitting in your living room, on your couch, and visiting with you face to face. I love to read. Actually, love is not a strong enough word.
