Update on Monnie from Shannon

Hey Friends and family,

Monnie is in the hospital and her disease has flared up again.  She has had some rough days. She will not be  eating anything for a few more days probably. She's having a bunch of pain and is pretty nautious.  We will see our doctor tomorrow and learn much more. After meeting with him friday he put her in the hospital and he told us that we should really consider the option of surgery to remove the colon. It is the only cure and this is a horrible painful disease. Most people know very little about this disease and just how debilitating it can be because symptoms can come and go with no warning or rhyme or reason. When the disease is in remission it's almost a normal life except for side affects such as arthritis that strikes monnie every time there is a front come through especially winter time.

This article I'm including a link to below explains so much about her disease so if you like please read this article and you will have a much better idea of what she is fighting.
SHe has been through every one of the medicines and she is on the last resort medicine now. It is failing and the disease is active again according to the tests they did yesterday.
After many years of pain and suffering she told me today that she wants to have the surgery. We will talk to the doctor tomorrow about all the details where when how long till recovery. I think from what i've heard its about a 3 month proccess and I'm not sure how much of that time is in the hosptial or home resting.

It's very scary to take this big life changing step because it is a permanent change to her body however we are thankful to have an option and it will cure the disease and remove any chances for colon cancer. You will see that this disease increase colon cancer chances 32 times normal not to mention all ofthe side affects from all of the drugs.

Monnie is a brave tough girl and She's ready to get rid of this disease once and for all. I'm so proud of her.
