I was art journaling earlier and decided I would take it to a whole new level!!!

    I love this... it immediately brought a smile to my face and a giggle in my spirit.
    I've just discovered this site and feel like we are family.. I feel so close to you Monnie. Am a new ostomy user due to Stage 3 Anal Cancer but have the option of reversing it. Really looking for some advise from someone who has faced same decision. Was diagnosed with diverticulitis 2 yrs ago and also have H-pylori just wondering if keeping the bag might be more advantageous than having a reversal. I just can't stop thinking about the pain and suffering and embarrassment from pre-ostomy times. Any advice or direction?

      So glad you enjoy my humor! My ileostomy is permanent so no reversal for me. Honestly, even if it were possible--not sure I would. Once I finally got the hang of this ostomy thing, my quality of life is SO MUCH BETTER! I really have nothing to complain about life with an ostomy because everything improved for me with it.
      Of course there are lots of pros and cons to a reversal but in the end, all that matters is what makes you most comfortable.
      Making my ileostomy permanent was not my choice. My rectum was so diseased that the doc took it too. This leaves me with no opening in my bottom. I have to say that I have yet to miss it too!
      I pray no matter what you decide, your life is full and abundant and the nasty C word never crosses your path again. Blessings~~

For the last 2 days I have done only what was necessary. I got up took kids to school, went back to bed, got up picked up kids, went back to bed, got up made dinner went back to bed. I bet I slept approximately 26-27 hours between Tuesday and Wednesday. This is so frustrating! Tuesday was a pain filled day and yesterday I was just exhausted from the stinking pain of Tuesday. New Year ~ New Me

After my ileostomy procedure in September I had one good month until symptoms of Ulceritive Colitis set in again. My surgeon decided it was time to remove the remaining part of my rectum and the surgery was set for December 13, 2011. This was supposed to be a fairly short 3 day hospital stay and an easier surgery than the ileostomy... supposed to be anyway... Going in for surgery the morning of December 13th is the last clear thing I remember, the rest is a hazy combination of what I've been told happened and my own drug induced memory.  Surgery went well and with out complication. My doc found my rectum to be in horrible shape, completely eaten up with the UC. No wonder I was in so much pain! So he removed the rectum and proceeded to close up the surgical site and  send me to recovery. Here is where things took a wrong turn. I do not remember waking up in recovery at all. You know in the Bible where it talks about anointing with oil for healing of physical ailments? To be specific: Mark 6:13 and James 5:14 are just a couple of them. Anyway...turns out, it's true. I know, imagine that. I have a good friend who has been singing the praises of essential oils for about a year now and all the amazing things she and her family have experienced because of them. ** Here's where I'm going to reveal my prideful, know-it-all, ugly self. It's not pretty and I like to pretend that I do not have this in me but I do. ** I was truly happy that she and her family were having such great results like not getting sick as often as before, no one has needed antibiotics for infections and they are getting real relief from allergies.
